As she grips to Ardyn's arm, her healing powers activate, as he is tainted by the powers of darkness. He casts her aside and departs. Lunafreya summons the power of the kings of old to aid Noctis via the Oracles' trident, really one of the thirteen royal arms.
Noctis fights Leviathan with the power of kings and wounds her. When the Astral god Titan appears to oppose Leviathan, Lunafreya shields an unconscious Noctis from the tidal wave. Lunafreya speaks to Noctis in a dream world where she gives him the Ring of the Lucii.
She disappears into the abyss, but promises to always watch over Noctis. As her life fades, Ravus flies into a rage, but is quelled by Ignis. Ravus laments how the only thing he wanted was for Lunafreya to be happy and free to live a life of her own choosing, but knows her spirit will not rest until the prophecy has been fulfilled.
Her body disperses into light, and her spirit appears to Ravus who begs her not to leave, but she vanishes. The world proclaims her to be dead, unable to find her body.
When Noctis awakens days later, he learns she has died but that she had left him a message in the notebook. On the last page he finds a pressed sylleblossom. Noctis continues his journey to the imperial heartland to salvage the Crystal whose light he believes will save the world.
When the train passes Shiva's corpse, Gentiana reveals her true identity as the Glacean to him. She bequeaths the Trident of the Oracle to him and delivers Lunafreya's feelings to him as she had promised. Noctis learns how much she had loved him and experiences a ghostly vision of her that disappears as he reaches out to her.
When Noctis returns to Insomnia after his ten-year slumber, Lunafreya appears to him, and summons the Astrals to dispel the daemonic Wall Ardyn has erected over the Citadel. As she touches Noctis she disappears. When Noctis fights Ardyn the latter taunts him by recalling that when he killed Lunafreya, Noctis had lain there powerless to prevent it.
Noctis fulfills the prophecy and banishes darkness from the world at the cost of his own life. When Noctis's spirit confronts Ardyn in the realm beyond , Lunafreya's spirit briefly aids Noctis as he and the spirits of the past Lucian kings prepare to deliver the final blow.
Wearing her wedding dress, she appears with Noctis at the Lucian throne. King Regis congratulates the two after thanking Lunafreya for her efforts and declares them man and wife. After looking at the photo given to her by Noctis, Lunafreya kisses him and closes her eyes, preparing to sleep alongside Noctis. If Ignis decides to follow Ardyn to Zegnautus Keep after their encounter in Altissia, a mysterious voice tells him about the prophecy that must be fulfilled to cleanse the world of Starscourge.
The "mysterious voice" has Lunafreya's voice actress, but whether it is her is unknown. In this alternate ending Ignis chooses Noctis over the world and it appears the prophecy remains unfulfilled. Ghostly sylleblossom petals swirl by Ignis who is healed of his injuries even though he had offered his life as sacrifice to save Noctis, implying Lunafreya's influence.
Ardyn accumulates power too great for the True King to purge with the Ring of the Lucii, and Bahamut decides to proceed with his original plan of destroying Eos. When Lunafreya died in Altissia, Gentiana lulled her into sleep like when she was a child, but ten years later Bahamut revives her with a new power—to absorb daemons—and sends her to destroy Ardyn and take on his darkness.
Lunafreya meets a girl named Sol who begins to help her get back to Lucis from the imperial lands where she was revived. Sol is skeptical of the gods and inspires Lunafreya to doubt her calling as well and to consider what she personally wants out of life, but she feels following her god-given destiny is the only path available for her.
She learns that Noctis will die if he follows his calling, and communes with the Astrals in her dreams, but Bahamut prevents her from talking to Gentiana. Using her newfound powers is slowly turning her into a daemon, her Oracle powers only barely allowing her to withstand it, but she keeps doing it so they can keep moving in a hostile world clad in perpetual darkness and void of people.
Lunafreya writes her thoughts and experiences in a notebook for Noctis to one day read, though Umbra is unable to reach him for the time being. When Lunafreya learns that Sol descends from the Aldercapt dynasty, she doesn't care. Sol was once saved by Aranea Highwind and was raised by her, and when they learn Aranea is trapped in Solheimian ruins surrounded by daemons, Lunafreya decides to aid in a rescue attempt, not because it is her "calling", but because she wants to help.
Inside the ruins she receives visions from a statue of Aera Mirus Fleuret , the first Oracle who was once Ardyn's betrothed. Aera asks Lunafreya to save Ardyn, and Lunafreya learns her new power is the same Ardyn had used 2, years ago to heal people of the Scourge by taking it into his own body, but this had led to his downfall and rejection of the gods.
They destroy an imperial magitek weapon called Sapphire Weapon that was hidden in the ruins, and Lunafreya reverts a daemonified Aranea, but the toll of the battle against the Weapon and absorbing Aranea's Starscourge act as a catalyst to turn Lunafreya into a daemon.
She yet retains her sentience, and Sol protects her from being killed by Aranea. Lunafreya is captured and brought to Lestallum, mankind's final safe haven, where the Hunters and Kingsglaive ponder what to do with her. Gentiana manages to impart to Lunafreya the truth about Bahamut, but is interrupted when he notices what she is doing. The now-daemonic Lunafreya is freed by Solara and Aranea, and she is taken to Insomnia by the former so she can speak with Ardyn: not to fulfill her new "calling", but to defy the gods and save Noctis.
Before leaving, she sends Umbra with a final message for Noctis: to meet her at Insomnia's Citadel. She plans to trick Bahamut into unleashing Tera Flare so the other Astrals can block it and thus exhaust him, forcing Bahamut into slumber. Ardyn is unconvinced and summons Ifrit when Lunafreya tells him of Aera's message.
Lunafreya absorbs the Scourge from Ifrit and makes a Covenant with him, but this final effort fully turns her and she attacks Noctis when he arrives in answer to her summons. Bahamut announces humanity's coming end and orders Lunafreya to carry out her role: absorb the world's darkness to energize Tera Flare. Lunafreya's darkness is drained to power Tera Flare, which is blocked by the other Astrals' intervention. Noctis rescues Lunafreya, but she is dying. In the same place she originally said goodbye to Noctis, she finally hears him ask her to live with him.
She agrees, and survives with a weak pulse. After Noctis and Ardyn cooperate to destroy Bahamut, magic is lost and the Astrals and the Crystal vanish. Before shattering, the Crystal absorbs all remnants of the Scourge, cleansing Eos.
As her final act Shiva heals Lunafreya so she can live a happy life with Noctis. Noctis and Lunafreya embrace, and Lunafreya says a final tearful goodbye to Gentiana as the sun rises. Noctis and Lunafreya marry while being watched over by the spirits of their loved ones. In the epilogue narrated by Regis, the world is slowly rebuilt; Altissia and Tenebrae are restored, Lestallum remains a central community, and the thawing of Shiva's ice allows the Niflheim continent become fertile once more.
Noctis and Lunafreya are married in Altissia, as the spirits of Regis and Ravus look on. Regis ends by wishing the couple happiness. Haruyoshi Sawatari, a producer at Business Division 2 who is leading development on the post-launch content, has said that if there's a demand to be able to play as a heroine like Luna, they will consider this for future downloadable content.
It was arranged and composed by John R. Graham and Yoko Shimomura. Her theme plays at the end of Chapter 9. Lunafreya appears in the short film unveiled at Paris Games Week that depicts a premonition King Regis has of his son's possible fate that he seeks to avert.
She is embroiled in a battle of her own, calling out for Noctis, who chases after her white dog Pryna through various dreamscapes.
On reflective surfaces, Noctis has Lunafreya's reflection, and Pryna has Umbra's, her other dog. Noctis is ultimately unable to save her, appearing over her with fiery eyes and her trident in hand as if possessed, and as if he had been the one to kill her. Lunafreya makes a cameo in the " A Nocturne for Heroes " event in the light portal that guides Noctis back to Eos. Lunafreya is a playable character in Final Fantasy Record Keeper released on the Japan version of the game since August Lunafreya is a light-element ability card.
Her ability is Oracle's blessing, which restores HP, removes all ailments, increases resistance to all elements and adds Wall and Snipe. She produces seven light orbs in battle. She can be obtained from the Ability Card Shop or through Summoning. As we made adjustments and tried to complete the story of FFXV in a single title, it soon became clear that we needed to change the heroine's role into something bigger.
Lunafreya first appeared in the Tokyo Game Show trailer [9] , where glimmering motes surround her. The overhaul of her character was due to changes in the game's plot that as a result Stella no longer fit. The switch from Stella to Lunafreya was spurred by the development team's decision to construct the plot to fit within a single game.
In the process, the Stella character's role was altered and expanded, and her identity was changed. Lunafreya was designed by Yusuke Naora , the art director of Final Fantasy XV , who aimed to have her design exude an indomitable will. The way her eye and lip makeup is applied was altered, and her hairstyle was made to look like it would need the assistance of a handmaiden to reflect her nobility. To achieve the desired look, Naora worked with a professional hair and makeup stylist.
They deliberately left some dispersion and variability at the tips of her hair to avoid her looking "too prim", as imperfections would give her a more relatable charm. Comparison of Luna between March and August Lunafreya's appearance was designed to be pure and heroic.
Her ascension to the role of Oracle has given her time to come to terms with her fate, unlike Noctis. This relationship called for her to be older than Noctis, and affected many design decisions.
To depict a strong-willed woman, the developers focused on the form of the eyes and mouth, and explored the expression beyond the shape. They wanted to incorporate the essence of her Kingsglaive incarnation, to give her an air of grace and strength she could project by simply standing.
Her expressions had to depict several complex elements, such as her concern for the future and her will to overcome it and move forward. She will not let any personal fear stand in her way. All of these features combined make her facial expressions serious and somewhat sad. She has five different attires for Final Fantasy XV : a formal white dress she wears in Altissia in Chapter 9, a casual white dress she wears in most other scenes, a white gown she wears in the end of Chapter 9 scene, a bridal dress designed by Vivienne Westwood , and a white dress she wore as a child.
A black lace dress was once showcased alongside Noctis's suit. In the final game, the dress she wears is white and of slightly different design. Her look has been slightly altered since she was unveiled. Its working title was "The Choice of Freedom". The key item description to the Lovers' Notebook depends on the messages the player had Noctis write to Lunafreya before the notebook enters the player's inventory after the end of Chapter 9.
The photo left on the throne after Noctis's passing, and the same photo he hands to Lunafreya at the wedding, depends on which photo the player chooses from their album right before the final battle.
The 1. The ending cut scene in the current game is a reworked version of the original. Her younger self is voiced by Liliana Chomsky in both the movie and game. She speaks with an upper class English accent in the English localization, presumably to reflect the Japanese version's more keigo manner of speaking see Hobbies and mannerisms for more details. Lunafreya Nox Fleuret is the present head of the royal family of Tenebrae, now a province of the Niflheim Empire. As the Oracle, she uses her powers to commune with the gods and beseech their aid in her quest to save the world.
As the youngest Oracle to take her post, she is wise, valiant, and determined—a girl with strong inner fortitude that does not yield in the face of adversity, adored and respected by the world over.
Although her arranged marriage to Prince Noctis of Lucis was part of the peace terms, Lunafreya and her fiance are bound by destiny, and Noctis is the only person in her life that calls her by the nickname 'Luna. It comes with the Trident of the Oracle. The Oracle in the painting of the prophecy of the True King with either the sun or the moon behind her, like in the game's logo.
This may play on her role as the Oracle keeping the darkness of the night at bay, being the light that illuminates the darkness of the night. In English it is an ornament resembling a small flower. It can also mean "blossom" as in a "flower's blossom.
Her aspects could allude those of the Woman of the Apocalypse , one of many major figures of salvation in the Book of Revelations. She is described as "a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars" The woman is pregnant and about to give birth, "travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered" Upon the Dragon waging its war in the heavens, the Woman escapes into the wilderness onto Earth, to where the Dragon gives chase.
Heaven gives wings to the Woman, with which she further eludes the Dragon's breath of water that floods the land, which is absorbed by the earth.
The Dragon declares "to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ" Though Lunafreya does not bear direct reference to this, aspects of the Woman is significant in her design and story elements and imagery.
